'Unleashing the Value of Information' |
Entity Review & Feedback Product Description |
The Issue
With evermore companies working under the watchful eyes of the regulatory bodies, it is essential that they can prove they are effectively evaluating their staff and reviewing their business processes on a regular basis. Historically these reviews have been time consuming and either paper based or entered into spread sheets. As a result the whole review and feedback process is cumbersome and doesn’t lend itself to providing accurate and timely Management Information (MI)
The Solution
Having completed a successful implementation of the Entity Review & Feedback (ERF) system for a major UK Insurer (over 1,500 reviewers and 6,000 staff), KDI Applications is now able to offer significant operational benefits and cost savings to organizations that need to review their staff and process and provided feedback for continues improvements.
Benefts
The Key benefits of ERF are: • Implementation of a controlled environment that meets regulatory requirements. • Comprehensive review tool to ensure that organizations Treat the Customer Fairly (TCF). • Customizable question sets that can be tailored to individual departments or products. • Question inter-dependencies, only show questions based on previous answers. • Pre-populate question form external data sources based on answers entered. • Provide instant feedback to staff following a review, both summary score of their performance and details of any failures. • The ability to review the reviewers and provide side-to-side comparisons. • Web based technology which allows access from any browser (no need to install software on the end-users computer). • Comprehensive Management Information system enabling effective focus upon staff performance and process monitoring and enhancement. • Design flexibility for Client customization. • Modular platform allows for quick updates to business needs. Other benefits provided by ERF are: • Reduced administration and operational costs • Customised implementation, which is commissioned in weeks rather than months • Return on investment achieved within months • Reduced dependence on over-stretched internal resources • Fixed-price maintenance contract
Application Overview
ERF is designed around a series of question sets which can be customized to meet the needs of different departments , products, locations, job grades or virtually any other identifiable entity. Integral to the data capture is a comprehensive set of data validation routines and question inter-dependencies. Each question, or set of questions can have scores associated with them which can be used to quantify staff or process performance , these score can be displayed via an on-line summary screen. The system also supports the performing of blind audits, where it is possible to review the reviewer and do a side-to-side comparison of the results. Below is a conceptual overview of the ERF solution showing the key components. |

Architecture
To ensure maximum flexibility, scalability and ease of implementation ERF has been architected based on the Three Tier Model. This allows the complete system to be installed on various platforms from a single desktop PC to a series of dedicated servers. The three tiers of the system are as follows: Database tier, this can be any ODBC compliant data source, such as SQL/Server, Oracle, UDB, etc. The main database used for product development has been SQL/Server. Application tier, this is predominately an Active Server Page “ASP” based application that runs under the control of Microsoft’s Internet Information Service “IIS” WEB server. Access to the inbound data sources is via a combination of OLEDB data providers and ODBC drivers. The application is object based and is highly modularised to facilitate maximum re-use and ease of maintenance. Presentation tier, the end-user interface is WEB based. To ensure maximum flexibility across different browser types the presentation is kept simple and browser specific plug-ins or components have been avoided. The presentation tier is intentionally “thin” with a small number of integral validation routines written in Java Script.
